Summary: One-shot. Jem, heartbroken, sinks into darkness.
Jem hasn't been the same since Rio broke her heart when he found out that Jem and Jerrica are the same people. Her look has become more punk and gothic. Her songs have darker themes, much to the despair of the other Holograms.
“Jem, you can't go on like this!” Kimber retorts one day. “We're losing fans and soon our band's career will be over!”
“Don't be such a baby!” Jem had told her.
“She's not wrong,” said Shana. “The media call us Misfits Wannabes.”
“We're too much like them now,” said Aja.
“Even Pizzazz isn't happy,” said Raya. “Did you read what she said in a recent interview?”
“Stop complaining!” Jem finally said, ending the conversation.
Her relationship with her bandmates deteriorates further and further. Kimber no longer recognizes her sister. Synergy tries to reason with her but Jem threatens to destroy her if she doesn't obey.
In the end, Jem and the Holograms become Jem. Jem continues her solo career. She moves away with Synergy, leaving her family and the Starlight Girls behind. She is now Dark Jem. She has no need for responsibility, friends, family or love.
When Pizzazz pays her a surprise visit to understand what is happening to her, she does not recognize her.
“I have before me a version even more wicked than myself! Strangely, I don't like that.”
